About the Author
Physician, author, historian, and more... Dr. Marc Matrana divides his time between a busy medical career and researching and writing about the history and architecture of the South. He began writing his first book, "Lost Plantation: The Rise and Fall of Seven Oaks" while an undergraduate at Tulane and finished it during his medical school at LSU in New Orleans. He started his second book, "Lost Plantations of the South" shortly thereafter, finishing it during his internal medicine residency at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. On an average day, you might find Marc digging through the stacks of a local historical collection or running through the halls of the hospital in his billowing white coat, surfing the net on his laptop in search of an illusive historical document or busy teaching medical students, interns, and residents on the wards. In all of these varied tasks, he finds continuity, meaning, and enjoyment. Marc holds memberships in dozens of academic, community, and professional organizations. He serves on several hospital committees and on the board of directors and in executive leadership positions of several local medical and historical organizations.
