Janie Van Komen survived the untimely death of her sixteen-year-old daughter, her husband’s massive heart attack at age forty-seven leaving them financially depleted with ten children to support, losing several million dollars, bankruptcy, being evicted from her home, recovering from a shattered leg and ankle, and a myriad of other bizarre events to become a much sought after speaker. Both youth and adult groups seek her formula of finding joy in the journey. Janie infuses both laughter and tears into empowering teaching moments making the trek a little easier for all.

Lyn Austin is currently a published author with Burroughs Publishing. She traveled the world lecturing for cruise lines, including; Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Disney. She is a member of the American Business Women and willingly shares her secrets of success with others. Rising above severe obesity, the bizarre accidental death of her first husband, subsequent financial, health, and relationship devastations, Lyn emerged with an attitude of gratitude, a newfound confidence and an infectious passion for life. We’ve both been rich, poor, and buck broke.

We’ve been healthy, sick, and broken.

We faced down death more than once and then death blindsided both of us...

So we decided to ask other women to share their ideas on the foibles of life we all face…

As for myself… I have lived in the USA and Europe.

In my various lives I taught stress relief writing; did research; hosted writing retreats; decorated homes; owned a business; and birthed 10 children.



Significant speaking engagements include: Women’s groups; Young men and women ages 12 to 35; Churches; Universities; speaking to groups in several states; The Netherlands; and my living room at midnight or whenever the current kid rolled in.

Competition attempts include: writing contest awards, baton twirling, home decorating, fiber art, publishing books, and mothering.

My experience encompasses winning, losing, and everything in between.
