Emerging Varietal Wines of Australia by Darby Higgs

Emerging Varietal Wines of Australia describes wines made from about 140 different grape varieties. Most Australian wines are made from a handful of traditional varieties, but over the past few years innovative winemakers have extended the range of wines available in Australia by bringing in new alternative varieties or by reviving old favourites which had fallen out favour.



This is the third edition of the book which was first published in 2006 and issued as a revised version in 2010 under the title Vinodiversity the Book. In this third edition many new varieties have been added as well as revised descriptions of the variety and updated lists of Australian producers.



Emerging Varietal Wines of Australia describes wines made from about 140 different grape varieties. Most Australian wines are made from a handful of traditional varieties, but over the past few years innovative winemakers have extended the range of wines available by bringing in new alternative grape varieties or by reviving old favourites which had fallen out favour.



Each variety is represented by an entry including synonyms, notes about the origin and distribution of the variety. A measure of the worldwide popularity of each variety is given a global ranking. After a description the role of the variety in Australia a list of Australian producers is presented.



An index of about 1800 wineries producing alternative varieties completes the book.



Emerging Varietal Wines of Australia contains valuable information for grape growers, wine makers and marketers as well as the more adventurous consumer.

Το βιβλίο «Μαγειρεύοντας για τον άλλο Άνθρωπο» είναι μια συλλογική συνεργασία μιας ομάδας food bloggers, που μέσα από το πάθος μας για το φαγητό, συνδυάσαμε τις γνώσεις μας πάνω στη μαγειρική για να βοηθήσουμε μια ομάδα ανθρώπων που είναι λιγότερο τυχεροί απ’ ότι είμαστε εμείς που ασχολούμαστε με το φαγητό.



Το βιβλίο «Μαγειρεύοντας για τον άλλο Άνθρωπο» είναι μια συλλογική συνεργασία μιας ομάδας food bloggers, που μέσα από το πάθος μας για το φαγητό, συνδυάσαμε τις γνώσεις μας πάνω στη μαγειρική για να βοηθήσουμε μια ομάδα ανθρώπων που είναι λιγότερο τυχεροί απ’ ότι είμαστε εμείς που ασχολούμαστε με το φαγητό.

Καλέσαμε γνωστούς Chef να μας βοηθήσουν και με μεγάλη χαρά ανταποκρίθηκαν στο αίτημά μας και μας πρόσφεραν και αυτοί τις δικές τους συνταγές.

Το βιβλίο αυτό είναι μία συλλογή με 100 από τις καλύτερες συνταγές μας.



«Η ιδέα της κοινωνικής κουζίνας "Ο Άλλος Άνθρωπος" ξεκίνησε όταν είδαμε στις λαϊκές αγορές της Αθήνας, ανθρώπους όλων των ηλικιών, εθνικοτήτων και κοινωνικών στρωμάτων, να ψάχνουν τα σκουπίδια για να μαζέψουν τρόφιμα που δεν μπορούν πια να αγοράσουν. Η πρώτη σχεδόν αυτονόητη δράση ήταν να μαγειρέψουμε από το σπίτι μας φαγητά, από αυτά που τρώμε και να τα μοιράσουμε στις λαϊκές. Ζητήσαμε από τους παραγωγούς να μας δώσουν ένα προϊόν από τον πάγκο τους για να συνεχίσουμε την επόμενη μέρα. Αποφασίσαμε να μαγειρεύουμε ζωντανά το φαγητό στον κόσμο, τρώγοντας όλοι μαζί, για να έρθουμε όλοι πιο κοντά και για να σπάσουμε την ντροπή που πιθανότατα ένιωθε κάποιος όταν του μοιράζαμε μαγειρεμένο φαγητό.

Επίσης στόχος της κοινωνικής κουζίνας είναι να καταφέρει μέσα από τη δράση της, να δίνει σε άνεργους που ασχολούνται καθημερινά με την δράση της κουζίνας, ό,τι χρήματα περισσεύουν από το ταμείο, (30-40 ευρώ τον μήνα) καθώς και από τα διάφορα δρώμενα που θα γίνονται για την ενίσχυση της κουζίνας να βγαίνει κάτι και για τους εθελοντές!

Η ιδέα της κοινωνικής κουζίνας "Ο Άλλος Άνθρωπος" είναι μια κίνηση αλληλεγγύης και ένδειξης αγάπης προς τους συνανθρώπους μας, με την ελπίδα να αφυπνιστούν συνειδήσεις και να γίνουν και άλλες παρόμοιες δράσεις από άλλους ανθρώπους και ομάδες.»
